2018 isn’t even over yet. You’re in the middle of this year’s action-packed series of major and miniature emergencies, and the last thing you need is more work.
But, unfortunately, now’s the best time to get ready. You don’t have to start writing your content or send out ‘Happy Holidays 2019’ emails, yet; nobody wants that. But there are a few things you can do now that will make your next year a lot easier. Even better, they hardly require any work now. Here are three easy things to add to your to-do list:
1. Subscribe to your competitors
You can’t copy your competitors, but you can keep an eye on them. Get a consumer’s view of how your main sources of competition are communicating with different groups and how often they send emails. Even better, sign up through a couple of email addresses through different landing pages and get a more comprehensive look at their strategies. This can give you a great idea about what everyone’s doing, what you can do better, and which customers you want to focus on.
2. Write down what’s going wrong
At the moment, consider it some low-key therapy. If something goes wrong and you can’t fix it, don’t spend the rest of the holiday rush worrying about the missed leads. Write it down to get it out of your head. When things slow down in January, you can figure out how to make it work better next time.
3. Sign up for free things
Just like you’re offering a lot of sales and freebies, so is everyone else. So if you have a wish list of services or ideas for next year, go ahead and sign up from the free demos and courses those companies offer. You can browse through the resources in January. It’s also a great hook if you want to buy services for your company next year: if you took a service provider up on a free deal but you missed the window, that sign of continued interest means they’d still rather haggle on price than turn you down.
